Review: SGU 2.01 Intervention

Nothing much to say about this episode… except, Anna*! Squee! :D

Even though this new red haired Lucian Alliance scientist (“Anna”) showed up from nowhere, I’m glad she did – I’m pretty sure I didn’t miss her presence last season ’cause I my first thought about the Lucians who made it through the gate in time was “oh great, more men!” because Kiva was the only female shown, and after that bit everytime the Lucians were on screen I was all “men, men, men :( seriously, what’s wrong with women? get them on the screen even if they don’t get to do anything big”.

Also, Robert Knepper – would it have killed for TPTB to have him already present in the last season? His characters always stand out one way or another; having him pop up as playing a mischellanous character was already in the previous episode is bad bad bad. They should’ve foreshadowed that that particular character is going to get to actually be somebody a little and say something at least in the next episode instead of remaining in the nameless, faceless background mob forever?! I don’t like the sort of “forward” thinking the treatment of these two characters shows :(

I suppose the mysterious healing of Chloe’s gun shot wound is supposed be, OMG MYSTERIOUS!!!! But all I got from that scene was that the thing going through the writer’s head had been “baah, I’m too lazy to explaining *AND* if we don’t explain it it’ll be MYSTERIOUS!!!!! and we don’t have to think of as many new MYSTERIES!!!!! if we just skate over it now it’s a WIN-WIN situation for us! Less work all around! :D :D:D”.

And I see they’re still doing the music video endings :( What a cheap way to get out of having to develop the characters by actually talking to each other about things other than the ship falling apart or who attacks whom.

*the red haired actress who played the new Lucian Alliance female scientist is played a character called Anna in Supernatural and I was happy to see her here :)
