Review: SGA 5.10 First Contact
I had forgotten Daniel Jackson was coming to Atlantis for a visit. Basically, I like that idea, but disappointed how little he was given stuff to do. Just like with Carter. All he did, could’ve been accomplished by a few letters/video conference and sending him the visual records of that hallway. No reason to send him to Pegasus galaxy. Hope part 2 gives him something impotant that nobody else can do to do.
It was hilarious how helpless and stupid-looking team Atlantis was against three mildly interesting intruders. That’s always entertaining!
I totally agreed with Woolsey about why Sheppard had to stay behind, but at the same time think Todd wouldn’t have been so quick to take over Daedalus if Sheppard had been there. They have developed a sort of rapport, him and McKay and Sheppard because those two are always focused on, and now there were only people there that Todd had had no contact with all (that I can remember) or very little contact with; no wonder he jumped to the conclusion that team Atlantis had betrayed him.
Plusses: Presence of Daniel Jackson, the intruders’ ship, Todd, Keller and Woolsey showing Sheppard his place and plenty of screentime for Radek.
Negatives: Sheppard acting like a spoiled brat when he couldn’t go on the Wraith mission, focus on McKay, not properly utilizing Daniel Jackson.
Capping: don’t know yet, guess I’ll decided after part 2.
